✍️ How can we improve quality in truck hiring within logistics?

Last week, while speaking with the logistics manager of a great brazilian company, I heard something I’ve been hearing often lately:

“We have trucks, we have drivers, we have routes… but at the end of the day, everything still depends on spreadsheets and WhatsApp messages.”

This scenario is far more common than most realize.
Despite all the technology available today, many companies still manage freight manually and in a fragmented way:

  • Spreadsheets saved on multiple computers;

  • Negotiations happening over WhatsApp, without any traceable record;

  • Freight postings on marketplaces that don’t integrate with the rest of their systems.

The result? Lack of visibility, more manual work, delays, and unnecessary stress for everyone involved.

It was from listening to stories like these that we developed the Logistics Management System (SGL) of Bialog — a platform designed to simplify, automate, and centralize every stage of freight contracting and monitoring.

🚛 How the SGL Works in Practice

🔹 1. Quick Freight Creation
In less than a minute, the shipper can register a load using only five pieces of information: origin, destination, weight, volume, and value. The system automatically completes the remaining details, reducing time and errors.

🔹 2. Smart Load Distribution
The freight offer is instantly shared with our network of independent drivers (TAC) and carriers (ETC). Customers can also add their own database of transport partners, consolidating everything in one place.

🔹 3. Organized Negotiations
No more endless WhatsApp chats. Every proposal and discussion is recorded in the system, ensuring traceability, speed, and security.

🔹 4. Automated Risk Checks
Before any driver is cleared for pickup, the system runs an automated risk assessment to ensure compliance and safety.

🔹 5. Documentation and Payments
The SGL automatically generates all required shipping documents and manages financial advances according to the client’s rules.

🔹 6. Real-Time Monitoring with a Control Tower
Every delivery is tracked in real time. If something goes wrong, the Control Tower module intervenes quickly, logging incidents and coordinating solutions.

🔹 7. Digital Proof and Settlement
Once deliveries are completed, proof-of-delivery documents and payment settlements are made available directly in the portal — no paperwork, no delays.

💡 The logistics manager I mentioned earlier saw his operation transform in just a few months:

  • More visibility: He now knows exactly where every truck is in real time.

  • More control: All documentation and data are centralized.

  • More efficiency: Fewer phone calls, fewer spreadsheets, and more time to focus on growth.

Conclusions:

In the next articles of the Logistics Insights series, I’ll share practical strategies on reducing transportation costs with intelligent routing, data-driven logistics management, and trends in supply chains.
